I cannot stress this enough friends, communication. If you want a life that is full of happiness and joy you must communicate. If you’re going to be late, yes, we all do it…communicate it. A phone call would be nice to let people know that you are okay. It is also not fair to keep people waiting no matter who it is.

If you say you’re going to be somewhere at an expected time and you’re running late, let them know. It makes sure that people who are expecting you can let their hair down not wondering where you are every five minutes.

Many things could have happened to you. However, you know where they are. Don’t make the people chase after you it isn’t kind. It is very disrespectful. A person needs to know if you’re coming. Let’s say someone has cooked you a really nice meal. They are waiting because you said you would be there at five o’clock.

Now I am not saying I am perfect with this as a person with ADHD. I am often late for things. However, I try my best to be respectful. If you say you’re going to be somewhere please, do your best to do so. If you have to leave a little earlier, do so.

If you have a doctors appointment, write it down for a half an hour earlier if you’re continuously late. Do what you have to. People start getting the wrong idea about you when you’re like that. They think you don’t care about them. They start always believing you’re not dependable.

Love yourself as well. It is part of communication. Know your needs. Know when to say no to things that are not as important to you. If you make too many commitments you don’t always get enjoyment out of it. That’s disrespecting yourself, making yourself too thin to serve everyone else’s needs. You don’t need to hate people, just love them and you.

You’re important too you know. Communicate your needs in a journal. Write on a blog, whatever you need to get your feelings straight. Sometimes, it is what you need to sit down and people have to be understanding that you can’t do everything. If you are sore, stop what you’re doing and communicate you need a break.

I keep talking about this lately but it is important. People need to know how you feel and they need to be able to respond. So if you can’t make something, cancel. If you feel sick, let the person know.
